Workshops
I am available for talks, workshops and individual mentoring. I have been a visiting lecturer at a number of colleges at Foundation, Degree and MA level. I have given  talks about my practice and delivered workshops in a variety of venues including guilds, museums, arts organisations, and in adult education and on RE-treats.  I have been teaching short courses regularly at City Lit and at Morley College in London before COVID

​From your own research base, grow and distil an idea and develop a personal repertoire of textile related surface treatments using simple print processes, manipulation and assemblage involving hand or machine stitch.

​Between the folds - mark, fold and manipulate

Picture

Explore structure, surface and form through manipulating both paper (as maquette and as a mould) and fabric. Transform, shape and structure cloth through pleating and folding, stitching and binding drawing on shibori, smocking and origami techniques, giving cloth a memory through heat setting. Enhance form and surface through waxing, marking and selective colouring. Draw on the behavioral properties of different fabrics to create experimental pieces.

Learn how to create your own hand made artwork into a photographic silk screen. Develop tactile printed layers through exploring opaque and transparent colour and special finishes such as foiling, flocking and relief effects.

Traces and Overworkings- interpreting objects

Working from your own collection of objects, develop ideas through guided drawing activities and exercises; layering, erasing, fragmenting, distorting, overworking, concealing and revealing, making use of positive and negative shape and line. Select from these explorations and experiments to mark the cloth through painting, simple printing (screen and mono print), stitching, manipulating and pleating working on a long strip of fabric or on a small series of individual pieces.
