Stitched and manipulated paper works ; mapping, memory and the imagination

Picture
Although mapping is a method of gathering and recording knowledge, all maps are to some extent the products of the imagination lending themselves readily to story-telling. We will explore these ideas using your own reference material in the form of maps, arial views, memories, imagination and knowledge of a place special to you. Using largely ordinary papers with the occasional addition of something more special, make drawn and painted marks, fold, crease, collage, laminate and stitch into these surfaces.  Create compositions as starting points for further works on paper or fabric, or structure into a book like form.
